What is TTouch?

What is TTouch®?
TTouch - the Tellington TTouch - is a method based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body. The intent of the TTouch is to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence - a little like "turning on the electric lights of the body."
The TTouch is done on the entire body, and each circular TTouch is complete within itself. Therefore it is not necessary to understand anatomy to be successful in speeding up the healing of injuries or ailments, or changing undesirable habits or behavior.
The Tellington TTouch is a specialized approach to the care and training of our animal companions. Developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones, PhD (Hon), this method based on cooperation and respect offers a positive approach to training, can improve performance and health and presents solutions to common behavioral and physical problems. It also helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and animals through increased understanding and more effective communication.
Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises, TTouch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviors. By using the TTouch and a variety of other tools, like the Confidence Course, you can assist the animal in experiencing self-confidence in previously frightening situations. Even the most difficult problems are often eliminated. You can also learn how to apply the Tellington TTouch to assist with recovery from illness or injury, or just enhance the quality of your animal's life.
The Tellington TTouch can help in cases of:
Excessive Barking and Chewing
Leash Pulling
Jumping Up
Aggressive Behavior
Extreme Fear and Shyness
Resistance to Grooming
Excitability and Nervousness
Car Sickness
Problems Associated With Aging
This gentle method is currently being used by animal owners, trainers, breeders, veterinarians, zoo personnel and shelter workers in several countries. There are many certified practitioners teaching TTouch around the world who can show you how to help you with your dog, cat or other pet. Please check the 'Practitioner Directory' to find your nearest TTouch Practitioner.

Dog park's do's and Don;t

The Dirt on Dog Parks; The Do’s and Don’ts

Dog Park Do’s
Know Before You Go. Before your dog sets paw in your local dog park, make sure you’ve seen it first. Find out if the grounds are clean, the play area’s away from traffic, and the dogs are playing well together. If you notice aggressive behavior or little human supervision, consider another park for your pet.
Take It To Go. Pack along water, a bowl to serve it in and your dog’s favorite outdoor toy. You’ll also need a leash to enter and exit your dog park to comply with most park rules.
Sit. Stay. Good Person. The dog park is not the time to catch up on phone calls or chat with other pet parents. It’s essential that you supervise your dog at all times, maintain voice control, and have the leash in hand to remove your dog if necessary.
Leave Only Pawprints. Little things like scooping up after dogs and filling in the holes they dig, make dog parks safer for everybody. By pitching in, you’ll prevent transmission of parasites, protect paws from injury and mercifully, reduce odor.

Play Tag. Keep your dog legal and safe by keeping rabies vaccination, license and ID tags up-to-date and on the collar at all times.
Dog Park Don’ts >
Pack a Snack. Dogs aren’t great when it comes to sharing treats. To avoid dog park brawls, leave the treats at home for an après-park treat.
Bring the Whole Family. Small kids might love the dog park too, but it’s not a good idea to bring them along. Spunky dogs might inadvertently knock-over a child. Or worse, the dogs may misread playful chasing and high-pitched screaming as a threat or even trigger hunting instincts. Even young dogs should wait awhile before visiting the dog park. Puppies under four months don’t have the necessary strength or vaccination protection they need for safe play with adult dogs. To keep everyone safe, focus your dog park attention on up to three vaccinated adult dogs at a time.
Overstay Your Welcome. When a dog starts acting aggressive for any reason, it’s time to go. By leaving immediately, you protect all the dogs at the park while teaching yours that bad behavior won’t be tolerated

What a blessing!!! My wife, our dog Sacha and I thank you so very much for your product, "Dermapaw". Like your history with your dog, we have had Sacha for seven years and for six years she has had this allergy problem with her toes, feet, legs and which she then scratches her sides and so on. Over the years we have been to the veterinarian countless times...went the injection route with a special concoction made from her blood test with injections every day for three (3) months that didn't work. Changed her diet numerous times-used different medical salve solutions-countless oral medicines of which our last oral medicine was Atopica. This last week we started using your "Dermapaw"...within three (3) days our dog stopped chewing at her toes, feet and legs. The raw area between her toes and on her legs has began to heal!!! She has finally been able to lay down and have long rests without her going into a frenzy. We put Dermapaw on her just before bedtime and for the 1st time in the last six years we all have a restful, full night of sleep. Thanks again for such a great product in "Dermapaw"...JimMy English Mastiff and I want to say Thanks for your product!! Tyger has been having problems with her paws for years! The weather gets hot, they start to itch, she licks them bloody and the psuedomonus flares up. She has been wearing socks during monsoon season for years! We have tried everything...numerous vet visits, 3 different vets, antibiotics, vet recomended creams, shampoos and salves, neosporin, soaking, benedryl and on and on and on! The dermapaw works great, better than anything else we have tried!!! Her paws are looking much, much better after just 2 days!!! And the smell is really nice! I would love to send you a picture of Tyger with her socks on.Thank you so much for dermapaw, it is amazing stuff!...Sheila Kinzer and Tyger the 191 lb English Mastiff
Just wanted to thank you for this product. Misha, our 15 year old Eskimo Spitz, was suffering for 3 weeks with cracked and bleeding pads. His paws were infected and red, shedding black skin, and he licked them constantly. The pain was so bad, he was not able to go up and down the one step to go outside. After several trips to the Vet, and 2 doses of antibiotics, steroids, pain pills, and even antiseptic powder, his pads were still bleeding. I had to keep baby booties on him at all times, even when he went outside. Nothing worked. He had blood tests and 2 biopsies, and everything was normal. I tried your DermaPaw skin treatment, and after 2 nights of using this, the bleeding stopped, and the redness between his paws is gone. Misha is very arthritic, and I did not attempt to put the harness and socks on him, but just continued with the baby booties, even though they slipped off all the time. The other creams that I used, even Vaseline did not work. I'm thankful for this product, and I'm sure in conjunction with the treatment from the Vet, Misha is now much better. He's up and walking on his own again without our help, and the booties are off....Arlene, Dan, and Misha
Augie-Doggie has seemingly forgotten his OCD-y ways! It's fantastic! We've been using the Dermapaw every 3 days or so just like you suggested and even his bump seems less irritated...the skin is back to white instead of pink, flaky or red.Clearly, you guys are rock stars. Here's some pics of him in his sockies... :)Thanks so much for your help, and feel free to use me as a recommendation!...Meredith and Augie too!
I received your product about 3 weeks ago and started using it on Roxie right away. The product is working awesome for her!! Thank you so much for making a huge difference for my baby girl!!! I talked to my vet again today and brought in your product for them to see. I had told them how well Roxie is doing and they seemed very excited because they know how many times we have had Roxie in for skin scrapings! Thank you again so much!!! I just attached 2 pictures of before. They really don't show how bad she was but it gives you an idea. This dermapaw is absolutely sent from heaven!...Cheryl and Roxie

WARNING over the counter flea treatments

TAMPA - Those spot-on flea and tick preventatives available for a few bucks at the grocery store are not what the doctor ordered, and federal regulators are warning consumers to take care when using them on pets.
The pesticides are being evaluated by the Environmental Protection Agency following an increase in complaints of bad reactions.
The problem isn't new, said veterinarian Andrew Armani of North Bay Animal & Bird Hospital in Tampa.
"It's been happening for years and years," he said. "I've seen burns that look like chemical burns all the way to seizures and death. People try to save money by buying a cheaper alternative [to vet-recommended treatments] at the grocery store."
The review includes all over-the-counter spot-on treatments, the type squeezed from a vial onto an animal's skin, usually at the base of the neck or along the back. They're usually used once a month to keep fleas and ticks away.
The EPA logged 44,000 complaints about them last year.
Adverse reactions are a bigger problem among cats than dogs, Armani said.
Sometimes, the animal just doesn't respond well. But other times, it's poisoned after the product is applied incorrectly. The pesticides aren't meant to be eaten and are supposed to be applied where a pet can't reach to lick them off.
"But people don't see fleas there and they say, 'I'm going to put it where I see the fleas.' So they put it on the tail and at the base of the tail," Armani said. "You know a cat; a cat is going to do everything to get it off. The poor cat will ingest it all and develop serious seizures."
In late April, the EPA announced it was reviewing products that accounted for about 80 percent of the complaints. But it recently expanded the scope to all spot-on products sold over-the-counter. Most are low-cost treatments available in discount stores.
Products purchased at vets' offices can cost five times more. But Armani said there are almost never problems associated with those.
"We scrutinize anything we use or recommend," he said.
The top brand in retail stores is Hartz, which ran into problems with the EPA in 2002 over some of its spot-on products for cats and kittens. The company agreed to discontinue four of those in 2005.
Only 2 percent of the current complaints involve Hartz products, said Melinda Fernyhough, the company's manager of scientific affairs.
"I think it is important to stress all topical drops are regulated in the same manner ... and are held to the same standards of efficacy and safety, whether sold through vets or at retail," she said.
Spot-on products have become the most popular way to control fleas, preferred by 74 percent of cat owners, according to a 2008 survey by the American Pet Products Association.
Information from the Sun-Sentinel was used in this report.
PROTECT YOUR PETS
• Consult your veterinarian before using any flea and tick treatment.
• Do not use products meant for dogs on cats, and vice versa.
• Avoid products with these names in the active ingredients: chlorpyrifos, dichlorvos, phosmet, naled, tetrachlorvinphos, diazinon, malathion, carbaryl and propoxur.
• Carefully follow application instructions, and note weight or age guidelines.

Rainbow Bridge

This is for Keko (Theresa's beloved girl dog) who passed today 5/11/09 Our Prayers are with you, theresa! Dana & Greg
There is a special poem written long ago that tells of a special place where our beloved four legged friends go after they pass. The place is called The Rainbow Bridge.
Just this side of heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together....
